Pregnancy is the perfect time to tune into the natural power and intuition of your body. Yoga is widely recommended for pregnant women by health professionals, but a dedicated pre-natal yoga course will tailor your experience, using poses and practices that will safely support your body during your pregnancy journey.

Expectant mothers can experience incredible changes in their bodies during their journey and this course will support each woman to honour those changes whilst learning tools to maximize comfort and well-being during the many transitions. Each class is designed to empower women to own their experience of pregnancy and prepare themselves for labour.

You Will:
    • Learn how to keep you and your baby safe in your practice at different stages of pregnancy.
    • Learn why different poses and practices are beneficial during pregnancy and how they may be customised to work for you.
    • Learn how to use yoga to build strength and stability to facilitate greater ease and comfort in your changing body and to soothe any discomforts that arise with pregnancy.
    • Build physical and mental stamina for later stages of pregnancy and labour. We will experiment with active birthing postures in our practice and techniques that can be used to support you through the different stages of labour.
    • Take time to pause and connect with your body and baby and tune into this incredible phenomenon of creating life!

This course is suitable for absolute beginners and experienced yoga practitioners who would like to learn how to adapt their practice to effectively support their pregnancy.

*Our September Pregnancy Course is being offered by another Urban Yoga Prenatal teacher Emma Geard, whilst Shelley McCarten our Move Body Mind Pregnancy facilitator is away on a training in the UK.

Shelley McCarten Urban YogaAbout Emma

Emma grew up the daughter of a doctor and midwife who happened to meet delivering babies! As a child she often accompanied her mum on antenatal and postnatal visits and at an early age, came to understand the significance of supporting women through the incredible experience of pregnancy and beyond.

Emma’s own yoga practice and teaching is based on self-inquiry and self-care. Emma has been practicing yoga for over 10 years, but became a true convert when she discovered how effectively yoga supported her through a period of ill-health. She is now passionate about using yoga as a tool to support women in achieving ongoing optimal health and to help them create a nurturing relationship with their bodies.

In 2016 Emma completed her pre-natal yoga teacher training with Bliss Baby Yoga, an internationally renowned training program in the specialist field of Yoga for Women, with a particular focus on pre and postnatal health. Emma is thrilled to be able to share the experience and insights of this community with the mums-to-be of Urban Yoga in our September Pregnancy Yoga Course offering.
