Postnatal Yoga focuses on the physical and emotional recovery from birth, gives time to bond and play with your baby and also provides tools for the roller coaster of parenting/child rearing. Classes are open to mums, dads and all caregivers, and of course all babies too!
Classes are recommended 6 weeks after birth or 12 weeks after caesarean providing there has been no issues with your recovery. Please get in contact if you wish to start classes before this time. Arrive 10 minutes early for class to have time to feed, change nappies and settle your baby.
After birth there is a need to rebuild your strength physically and also emotionally. During pregnancy your baby has been inhabiting your physical centre of gravity and also the seat of your internal energy. Reclaiming this centre after birth is not only important for physical recovery it also encourages the attributes needed to be a great parent by strengthening your self-esteem, intuition, power and vitality. That’s why this class is not just for mothers.
Classes will provide movement to strengthen body and mind easing away the aches and niggles placed on the body through child rearing. Due to the nature of babies classes will have a very flexible format and all attendees are asked to bring an open mind. We all know the ups and downs of parenthood and that we are not often in control of our days due to the needs of our little ones. These classes are all inclusive from the breast fed to the bottle fed, from attachment philosophies to routine led parenting. It is all welcome here. We believe there are a million and one ways to bring up babies and that the parent knows what is best for their child. Through the tools of yoga these classes encourage us to work from a place of kindness, compassion, love and mindfulness – attributes already within us but ones that we can enhance as we begin our journey as a parent.
