Shelley’s classes are down to earth, accessible and inquisitive, incorporating yoga postures injected with functional exercise and natural movement, to create strength and active flexibility from the inside-out.
Heading up the Pregnancy and Postnatal programme at Urban Yoga, her specialised knowledge is influenced by experts such as biomechanist Katy Bowman, Restore Your Core and One Strong Mama founder Lauren Ohayon, Restorative Exercise + Yoga teacher Jenni Rawlings and personal trainer Jenny Burrell. She also keeps up to date with the research and work of physiotherapists Julie Wiebe, Diane Lee, Antony Lo and Lori Forner.
Shelley has been teaching since 2011 and is accredited with a Vinyasa Flow and Hatha Teaching Certificate with Katy Appleton, and Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga with Uma Dinsmore Tuli, however, her constant curiosity in body-mind-movement means she is continuously deepening her knowledge in somatics and exercise science.
She is currently studying on the 52 Everyday Biomechanics course with Katy Bowman, The New Wave of Yoga with Michael Stone and Kathryn Bruni Young, as well as online training Find Your Foundation: Training for the Pelvic Floor with physiotherapist Sarah Ellis Duvall, and “Bulletproof” Your Body – Pelvic Floor and Core Level 1 with physiotherapist Antony Lo.
