Urban Yoga is thrilled to announce special guest teacher Jess Kamell will be with us for two weeks this June/July. In her first visit to Wellington, Jess will be taking a series of our regularly scheduled classes, culminating in Embodied Philosophy, two fun and insightful workshops designed for the modern urban yogi, to help deepen their knowledge and embody it in their yoga practice.
The element of Shakti is a boundless unlimited energy that creates and supports life. In our humanness, dust builds, concealing our boundless potential and hiding our true nature of being unconditionally loveable, connected and able to act with power in this world. Through the journey of yin yoga and self inquiry, we will look at the common beliefs that block our flow in these areas to reveal our ever present state of freedom.
We are an endless well of creativity. Shakti is the power responsible for our manifestations bringing formlessness into form. It is inherit, abundant and all we need to do is bring our awareness to its presence to actualize its potency. Through a dynamic asana practice, we will ignite and invigorate the three physical centres within our bodies that these bountiful sources exist to manifest the power of our will, knowledge and action.
These 2.5 hour special workshops will be a fun mixed level opportunity to dive into your practice. You are welcome to join one or both.
Jess has a been dedicated to curiously exploring and digesting yoga for the past 11 years. Her passion for yoga sprung instantly. She fell deeply in love with the authentic connection and belonging her practice revealed. Teaching was a natural and potent progression, a way to share and continue this conversation with others. She has continually deepened her knowledge and understanding in Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Anusara and most recently holds her certification in Embodied Flow™.
Her willingness for self discovery is fuelled by a realization: that the more we look inwards and know our bodies, the more available we are to meet life with presence – rather than with a conditioned mind. This offers us the key to live an authentic liberated life and cultivate heartfelt connections.
Jess’ intention for teaching yoga is to provide a space in which students awaken the essential Self and experience themselves in wholeness. There is a poetic nature to her teachings as she combines her knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics with philosophy and imagery – a recipe that guides students deep within the layers of their bodies and awakens the wealth of love within their hearts.
