Mantra and sound have been used for millennia in yoga and many other traditions as one of the most powerful tools for quieting the mind, accessing deeper states of consciousness, insight and awakening.
Join senior yoga teacher, musician and kirtanist, Mei Lai Swan for a journey into the eastern spiritual tradition of mantra & sound. This workshop is a unique and specialised training that will provide each individual with a comprehensive introduction to nada yoga – the power and practices of sound, mantra and voice. It is designed for yoga teachers, yoga practitioners, and all those curious about the power of sound for wellbeing and awakening.
This experiential-based training will cover:
• The nature & power of sound & mantra, drawing from yoga philosophy, mystic traditions & science
• An overview & exploration of sound practices from the vedic, tantric, bhakti & nada yoga traditions, to shift & awaken consciousness
• Embodied voice practices to free your voice & discover the mind-body-sound connection
• The connection between sound, silence & meditation
• The meaning & experience of Om
• Sanskrit pronunciation, mantras & chants
• Bhakti yoga & simple kirtan
• How to begin and/or deepen your own sound and mantra practice
• How to teach and integrate sound and mantra practices
Mei Lai Swan is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT500 and YACEP (Continuing Education Provider).
RYTs with Yoga Alliance are able to receive 12 CEU credits for this workshop.

The sequential sessions of this workshop are conceived as a progressive weekend designed to establish and build on each practitioners’ experience and understanding. Therefore, it is not possible to book specific single sessions. The duration of each session is approx. 2.5-3 hours.

A senior yoga teacher, musician and kirtanist, Mei Lai has been journeying deeply into the eastern spiritual traditions for over 20 years. Through studies in yoga, buddhism, music, and contemporary somatic practices, she was drawn to the power of sound and voice as a tool for wellbeing, meditation, insight and devotion.
Mei Lai offers certified trainings in the Yoga of Sound and Mantra independently and on yoga teacher trainings worldwide. Mei Lai is passionate about inviting and guiding others to discover these key aspects of yoga beyond the asana, to enhance consciousness, self-discovery, and the mundane and mystical experiences of life.
Mei Lai’s teachings are richly informed by her background in community development and social work, and a deep love of life and service. She is the founder and previous CEO of Melbourne-based non-profit Birth for Humankind, and has recently launched yoga school and social enterprise Yoga for Humankind, specialising in offering international yoga trainings in trauma-informed and community-based yoga.
