Amy has practiced yoga since 2009. From the very first class something really grabbed her attention. The nourishing effect of showing up at class, to be in her body, using breath to move and open, was slow but steady. Her yoga mat quickly became hallowed ground and was where she experienced glimpses of what it means to let go, to connect to a bigger energy, to be self aware, to be awake in this world, to be conscious. She wanted to know and experience more and more. The journey since then has been infused with learning’s and teachers she is forever grateful to – including Kelly Fisher, Kara-Leah Grant, Katie Lane Turner, Tara Judelle and Carlos Pomeda.
In 2013-14 Amy was fortunate enough to undertake formal study under the tutelage of Tara Judelle where she successfully completed the 200 hour The Art of Teaching programme with Tara’s Yoga Lila School of Yoga. Upon her return to Wellington she introduced a new offering at Urban Yoga – a weekly community (kula) donation class. She feels privileged to be able to offer a donation class to the Urban Yoga community at a studio she has been a long-time dedicated student at – she herself credits her first two years of yoga at a donation-based class as one of the most transformative times of her life. She feels passionate that yoga is for everybody.
Amy will continue to share some of her learning’s at the weekly Community class, a Beginner’s Course and other open level classes at Urban Yoga.
