Shelley McCarten’s love of yoga is the simple practice of being able to get out of your head, and into your body. Her classes aim to provide a down-to-earth, accessible and deeply fulfilling yoga practice. You will feel challenged, but not in a yoga-contortion-levitation kind of way! Be prepared to move mindfully, breathe deeply, and become more present to your body, mind and spirit.
Shelley has always had a deep interest in women’s health, and a huge love of children and babies so it is no surprise she specialises in pregnancy and postnatal yoga. Greatly influenced and inspired by the work of midwives such as Ina May Gaskin, she believes pregnancy yoga is the perfect way for women to connect with, and learn to listen to, the innate knowledge of their bodies. Prenatal and postnatal yoga also sets women on the journey to be more conscious and mindful in their day-to-day lives, which reaps positive benefits for the art of parenting, and for the upbringing of children too.
Shelley is accredited with a 240hr Vinyasa Flow and Hatha teaching certificate with Katy Appleton, and Well Woman Yoga Therapy and Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli (author of Mother’s Breath and Yoni Shakti: A Woman’s Guide to Power and Freedom Through Yoga and Tantra).
Shelley teaches the Tuesday 5.30pm & Saturday 9.30am weekly classes and our Pregnancy Yoga Course offering.
