Monday morning Yoga for Runners class
7:00am – 8:00am
Specifically for runners
Suitable for absolute beginners, the tighter the better.
Taught by David
As a runner, I know that weekends are precious. Saturday is often the hard group run of the week, and Sunday is either that long run or a race (or finishing that reaaaally long run from Saturday). You don’t have time to stretch. Come Monday morning, most runners are pretty hammered, sometimes barely able to walk straight while heading to the water cooler to share your epic run tales with anyone who will listen (which to be honest, is either your mum or another runner that hasn’t seen your Strava or MapMyRun profile yet).
Let me help you with that.
As a runner myself, I know what it’s like to have a distant relationship with my toes, and gluts so tight you have to sleep with a pillow between your knees. I’ve been there, and it ain’t pretty.
In this Monday morning class, I will take you through a movement practice dedicated to your specific running needs:
- Tight (aka strong) hammys
- Tight (aka they are not working properly) gluteals
- Even tighter (aka stronger) hip flexors and calves
- A fledgling core section that could honestly do with a bit more assistance
- You’ll also get a chance to rest and recover too. All work and no play is just all work.
This class is absolutely suitable for beginners. Especially the ones who think the idea of ‘sitting on the ground comfortably’ is akin to pacing a Unicorn through a sub four minute mile. I can make this yoga practice accessible to you and your strengths.
As a runner you may have discovered the benefits to a periodised, structured, progressive training program. These Monday morning classes are offered in the same fashion, a cyclic four week progressive course. Casual visitors are welcome, but you’ll get more if you make it a routine.
Courses for 2014:
- Mon Nov 24 – Mon Dec 15
Price: $75 for a 4-week course. $20 for a drop-in.
