This four week course will take the fundamentals of the Yoga for Runners workshop, and put it into practice. Prior attendance of the workshop is NOT required though.
You will learn and practice how to:
- Use yoga as a pre-run warm up
- Apply the postural alignment from yoga into your running
- Engage your core and use your gluteals (bum muscles) for running strength
- Use some light speed work to improve your efficiency
- Use yoga to stretch out your running muscles
- Breathe and relax.
Each 90min run + yoga session will comprise of:
- 15min yoga mobility warm up and alignment cues
- 45min run (with attention on improving technique and speed)
- 30min post run yoga to regain mobility and assist recovery
This is a group session and we are exploring different parts of the inner city each week. We will run rain or shine.
You will need to bring:
- Yoga mat
- Running shoes
- Running outfit that you are comfortable and capable of doing yoga in
- Towel and drink bottle for after the run
- Jacket, track pants to wear out afterwards.
Participation guidelines
To get the most out of this course, it would be useful that you are running at least 2-3 times per week, and are comfortable running up to 45 minutes at one go. In addition, this course will add to your current knowledge of yoga, so it is recommended that you have a weekly movement practice. Unfortunately this course isn’t suitable for people brand new to yoga or running.
$85.00 for four 90 min sessions. Each session builds on the previous week, so it is highly recommended to sign up to the entire course.
