As a standalone workshop or part of the Yoga Therapeutics series, this session is for those who experience some form of back discomfort, either in the course of daily life or in particular poses or types of yoga practice. This session is for you if you’ve got aches and pains, injuries that never came quite right or tightness that never goes away.
At some point or another, many of us in modern life experience some level of discomfort in our backs. Because our bodies are not linear systems with isolated parts, pain in one area of the back body can transfer to another and can also be alleviated by addressing the whole back channel of the body.
This workshop will work gently and holistically to help you discern how to manage your back niggles within the context of your yoga practice. Often a few simple poses done mindfully on a consistent basis can make a world of difference to your daily comfort and ease in your body. Through our explorations in the workshop, you may also learn alternatives for poses that tend to aggravate your back discomfort. These alternatives will be useful in your own home practice and also in any of our Urban Yoga general classes.
